Anjellicle Cats Rescue is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out New York City’s homeless cats and kittens, with a focus on local shelter animals in immediate danger of being euthanized. Through a coalition of volunteer advocates and foster caregivers, Anjellicle extends a last minute lifeline of time, attention and care needed to ultimately place these abandoned animals into permanent, loving homes.  So far, Anjellicle has saved almost 600 cats in 2018.  Our year end fundraiser is an important part of our operating budget for the new year.  Please consider a contribution towards the routine and extraordinary medical care of our cats in 2019.  We can continue to take in cats only through the help of supporters like you.

Zeus is a young gray tabby who appeared at a local feral colony about two months ago. The colony feeders noticed that he was friendly and believed him to be an abandoned house cat.

This past Saturday during the Noreaster storm, he was sheltering under a car in a local parking lot when the car backed over him. A bystander witnessed the incident and then saw Zeus drag himself across the street with his front legs and lay down in a grassy area. He notified the colony feeders who put him in a trap and rushed him to the emergency vet.

Zeus wants to live, and is now in Anjellicle's hands. He has two pelvic fractures and shattered ankle. He has been stabilized and is on IV pain management, and we are evaluating with our team of vets whether he needs surgery or can heal on cage rest with continued IV pain management.

So far we have accumulated an emergency vet bill of over $4,000 to help Zeus, and the estimate for surgery is another $6,000. The continued hospital stay will also run in the thousands. We are an all-volunteer non-profit and can only take cases like Zeus through crowdfunding from our supporters.

These are the faces of cats we were able to save from the street or the at-risk list at the shelter with the help of a partner vet.

As an organization that takes in sick and injured cats who would otherwise be euthanized, medical expenses are the largest part of our budget and run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.

One of the veterinary practices we use is under new business management and has asked its rescue partners to pay all outstanding balances by this month before obtaining any future care.

Even with a large discount, this current outstanding bill is in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Christopher Denney, celebrated cabaret pianist for Karen Mason and the late Julie Wilson, will be accompanying Anna on the piano. Denny has served as musical director, arranger and pianist for such theater, cabaret and opera luminaries as Karen Mason, Julie Wilson, Brent Barrett, Gregg Edelman, David Campbell, Tammy Grimes, Rod Gilfry, David Burnham, Ron Raines, Andrea Marcovicci, Lauren Bacall, Dorothy Loudon, Kaye Ballard, Jeff Harnar and Steven Brinberg, earning, in the process, two Back Stage Bistro Awards and four Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs Awards for Outstanding Musical Direction. His thirty-year career has taken him to virtually all of the major venues in New York and throughout the U.S., notably including Carnegie Hall, where he performed his own arrangements with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops, as well as to Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, Mexico, Paris and London’s West End. Film work includes having produced Placido Domingo’s recording sessions for Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar-winning musical film, Moulin Rouge.

Recently one of our cats went missing from our cat room at a local pet shop, and we sought investigative help from a professional. It was meant to be when Angel Investigations agreed to help us take the steps to find our little lost feline. We were also guided in implementing important security measures to further protect our resident fur-kids in the room at the pet store.
Thanks to help from an angel, we got our missing kitty back!

Anjellicle Cats Rescue is thrilled to announce our partnership with Koneko Cat Cafe, America's first Japanese cat cafe! 

All of the resident cats at Koneko are in ACR's care, whether from the ACC At-Risk List, a lucky stray, or a TNR candidate who was too sweet to release. 

Thanks to a generous grant from Maddie's Fund in 2015, we have been able to pull additional cats off the ACC At-Risk list with the goal of placing them at the cafe for adoption. The grant has helped us provide the medical attention needed to prepare these felines for the cafe as well as routine care of the cafe kitties. Without the grant from Maddie's Fund, we may not have been able to participate in this wonderful opportunity to save and adopt out more cats. 

Koneko Cat Cafe is located at 26 Clinton Street in Manhattan's Lower East Side. All of the cafe cats are available for adoption.
